Course details: Dates: February 11–12, 2025. Schedule: Sign-in and setup at 8:00 AM. Class runs from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM each day. Location: 1255 Treat Blvd., Ground Floor, Walnut Creek, CA 94597. Format: Live, in-person workshop. CE credit: 14 hours CE approved for most U.S. states. Instructor: George Dell, SRA, MAI, ASA, CRE. Lunch: Provided on Day 1.
What you’ll learn: You will work directly with real market data and leave with tools you can apply immediately in your appraisal practice. The course focuses on modern, practical methods you can actually use, not just theory.
You will gain two fast analytical modeling tools: adjustment calculation using contrasting, and simple regression for defensible, transparent adjustments. You will also learn objective data selection using visual plots and the use of summary statistics for market selection and comparison support, including stronger workfile documentation. These tools are especially useful for sparse-data appraisal problems, including support for location adjustments and price indexing of older data.
Software and tools: You will learn R with RStudio, one of the most widely used open-source data analysis platforms, and see how it compares with traditional spreadsheet add-ons. All software used in class is free to download and use.
Included with your registration: open-source data analysis software (R and RStudio); guidance and support for download and installation after registration, if needed; and Excel-based demonstrations for those transitioning from spreadsheets.
Requirements: A laptop computer (Windows or Mac) is required for this hands-on course. iPads and Android tablets are not supported for the software used and cannot be used instead of a laptop.
Certification and CE credit: State CE certification is available for most states. A student attendance certificate will be provided at the end of the class. The course is approved for 14 hours of continuing education credit in most U.S. states.
